ABOUT THE ROLE

Cahoon & Associates is seeking a qualified Electronic Security System Technician experienced in all aspects of design, installation, and sustainment of modern access control, intrusion detection, and video security surveillance systems to support the Eastern Kansas Healthcare System (EKHS), and outlining CBOCs in Kansas. Preferred candidates should have a Software House certification or eligibility determination, and at least 3-5 years’ experience in design and sustainment of enterprise grade access control, intrusion detection, and video security surveillance systems. Personnel filing this role will be a member of a team of security professionals, technicians, and systems administrators tasked with design, implementation, and follow-on maintenance of current and future deployed systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) input to effectively guide the design and implementationof new state of the art security systems.

Daily system monitoring and troubleshooting of access control, intrusion detection, and video management systems, applications, and servers, to include Windows-based systems administration activities.

Meet with site security personnel and representatives to gather and capture system requirements to support design efforts

Conduct thorough site surveys to identify additional requirements for security solutions

Work with selected vendors to incorporate various technologies into the design

Manage integration efforts between multiple vendors and technologies to support a fully integrated solution

Execute product research to provide solutions for site security needs and challenges

Generate system design drawings (Design, Layout, Elevation, One-lines, Floor Plans, etc.)

Position will also support responding to and correcting current system issues

Provide as needed instruction to the customer on the proper use of the equipment and software

Position may be required to support after hours calls on occasion

Performs scheduled, routine preventive maintenance on a wide variety of security equipment and systems

REQUIREMENTS

Requires Completion of COVID-19 Vaccination Inoculation Series

Required Qualifications

Ability to generate, read, and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints

Understand general concepts in other Life Safety Systems, i.e., Fire Alarm

Knowledge and understanding of sensor and systems integration with intrusion detection systems, such as analog and network-based Video Management Systems (VMS), fence line detection systems, and access control devices

Basic knowledge of Internet Protocol (IP) switching and routing

Ability to generate detailed and accurate technical documentation and communicate clearly through written and verbal methods

Eligibility to pass a security background check

Desired Qualifications

Experienced with Software House systems and software

Experienced with Software House electronic access control systems

Experienced with Axis Communications systems

Experienced with Aiphone Intercom systems

Experienced with ExacqVision

Experienced with Bosch

Exceptional customer service skills

Current or able to obtain certification through Software House

Must be responsible, self-motivated, self-starter, personable and well-organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Physical Requirements:

Sitting, Standing, Walking, Grasping, Reaching, Near Acuity, Speaking, Listening, Sight, Use of Hands/Fingers, Ladder Climbing, and able to lift up to 60lbs

Education Requirements:

High School Diploma, equivalent, or higher
